Eric Pertiet: NETS-T Standard 2b: "Touchgraph" would be a great too for students to pursue an assortment of related web site on related subjects.
Heidi Faivre: Standard a: I could use search engines like google to help make progress towards one of the indicators by incorporating the tools and resources on the web. Develop knowledge and skills for myself and my students by searching sites that are adequate and have accurate information. The students could then use the information they learned from the site.

In addressing visual learning in LA we took a novel and the different topics within it and came up with different presentations the students had to make. Some of the students created power points, some completed web quest, a few students made posters and diagrams to help the class visually learn about the different topics that appeared in the novel we were reading.
Becki Deater: Standard c: I could use Audacity to record a message with instructions to my class while I have a substitute (if it's planned ahead of time). It may be a better day for the sub if the directions are coming directly for me, in my voice. Plus then the sub only has to click on it and play.
Eric Pertiet: NETS-T Sandard 2d: Databases can provide students with a variety of related professional article and summeries that relate to specific subjects.
Kelsi Countryman 2c: I feel that the different types of research we looked at through google could be individualize for students who learn differently. I think the wonder wheel would be great for some students, and difficult for others to stay on track. I beleive the timeline would also be a great tool for some students who and think in sequence and a logical order. As a teacher we could offer these different options to students who learn in different ways.
Michael Gecan NETS-T Standard 2c: I think that using something like forms by Google Docs would be a great way to create a survey. The survey could be used to learn more about your students or you can teach your students how to make surveys in order to learn more about each other.
Katy Ruppel- I feel that Goggle Docs is a great way to incorporate NETS-T Number two into everyday classroom learning. If I were a classroom teacher, I would incorporate it into my assessments to help simplify grading of written activities as well a tool to quickly do informal assessments with my students. I also think that the unique ways that teachers can collaborate to pass information to and from, as well as collaborate to get better ideas of how to reach students is amazing. Being that I teach Elem. PE, there are only 2 of us in the building, and 18 of us spread out in the district. Goggle Docs is a great way to share info and new tests and papers without having to email and inter-office everyone every time something changes. In collaboration with google groups, reaching all 18 is as simple as one invite and a daily check.

I will be using this to create an online survey for the parents of our athletes at YMS to take after their sport season. It will give the athletic department useful information to help improve the department and all of our programs (I actually created a rough draft of the survey already on google! Awesome tool!)

Since we are in a world that heavily relies on technology, this feature can be used to enhance a student’s already technological mind. Teachers can use this feature with students for a variety of subjects for practice or assess. Students can collaborate on projects or papers using Google Docs, create or take quizzes to show their understanding of a unit. Students often get tired of the same old class procedures, so using Google Docs would give students a new way to learn the material. It would improve technical skills while students learn the new material. Differentiation would be easy to implement with the constant teacher feedback through Google Docs.

Movie maker would be a fun and exciting way to teach a lesson to students. The students would be more engaged and excited to learn the material. If a student is a more visual learner this would be a great option for them, this would also be helpful for those who are hearing impaired, creating a video would help them visualize in a new way.

I believe that this standard can be accomplished by using blogs. As a health educator, we have the students participate in a journal entry each day. A question is written up on the board and students have 5 min to write a response. We then have a class discussion. By using blogs, students would be able to answer the journal question, see their classmate's responses and have the opportunity to relate to others in the class. I think that this avenue is a great way to share thoughts and opinions with the use of some classroom rules, expectations, and monitoring. As a coach, I will be using it to send out information on clinic times, a summer practice schedule, events that are happening in the area, and pictures from competitions. This will be a great way for parents and interested individuals to see what's going on with the color guard.

WIKI is a dream for this standard, specifically with (a) "design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity" because students would inevitably be exposed to providing relevant insight on a topic and initiate conversation from other people's point of view. This is an life-long important skill and allows the exposure and use of technology to foster this type of creative sharing and discussion.

This Standard could be implemented through various media. The using of multiple media as outcomes or final products allows each student to individualize their learning experience. It allows those with advanced skills to use them and those that are less versed in technology the freedom to explore new media. It also allows teachers flexibility in how they present material to students.
Mike Guzaldo 2 b I think a good way to meet this standard in a PE classroom could be through the use of a class Blog. The Blog would incorporate personal fitness journaling from students along with advice and comments from the instructor. The instructor could also link comments to other fitness related web pages or activity Blogs so that students can pursue their own fitness interests.

A wiki or a blog is a tool that students who are extremely comfortable with technology or one someone who is new it can flourish. Students can take part in a blog created by the teacher or they could create their own on a topic that is relevant to something they are doing in class. They will learn to partake in insightful conversations and provide each other with meaningful feedback.

I could see letting students do the very same activity that we did in class with the video editing software. By letting the students go film there own short video, and then edit the film with Microsoft movie maker, this would promote student learning and creativity.

Ryan Schrader NETS 2B: For this standard I believe would be a great way to put students into groups and then have a task for them as a group to perform. I would have all students in a group and their goal would to eventually make a movie about a unit that we have done in class. Before they can make their movie though they will have to use audacity and learn how to record their voices and leave messages for themselves as well as their team. The first thing I would have them do is they would have to record themselves through audacity and explain their goals for their project both individually as well as team goals that they want to achieve. Once they start working on this as a group they must record themselves once a week explaining what they are getting done as well as how they think they are working as a group. They will explain what they think is working positively as a group as well as what they think they need to work on as a group. In the end they will have many recordings saved on audacity about the group project that they were working on as a team. This way it will get them familiar with working with different digital tools, but also give evidence of what everyone in the group is thinking on how they worked individually as well as a group. At the end I will give the groups an opportunity to go back and listen to what everyone in their group was thinking about at different times during the assignment.

Audacity would be a useful tool for language classes. Whether a foreign language, ESL, or a speech class (or team), the ability to record students' voices and then hear themselves is a valuable tool both for teacher and learner. Over time, the regular use of voice recording and playback allows for continued skill improvement. MovieMaker would add a visual element for speeches and performances. The trick might be getting the students used to listening to themselves!

NETS-T2b and T2d: I believe Movie Maker would be an excellent technological tool for students to use to re-enace various historical events that we are learning about in Social Studies. I can easily visualize the enjoyment of students recreating some scenes and using the accuracy of their video on Movie Maker as an assessement.

NETS-T2a: As for Audacity, it would be an ideal tool for several reasons. First, I can easily record directions to an assignment or long-term project. Often times, students 'forget' the project objectives and this would be a great technological resource to combat that issue. Additionally, I can also use Audacity for student directions in my absence. In my sub plans, I can see the opportunity to use this creative digital tool for the substitute to play. I like this idea a lot, as their is no confusion when I return from an absence of students complaining that they did not 'understand' a subs directions. Another use for Audacity is the ability to record my student's voices during Read Naturally. This is a program that primarily measures a student's fluency, and a bit of their comprehension while reading a pre-selected Non-fiction story. I can record a students 'cold' read and after several practices they can hear their own voices and compete against it before they are ready for a 'hot' read so they can pass, and move onto the next story.

Standard 2D: My wife is a speech pathologist in a school setting. I could see her (and all school speech pathologists) using the audacity software to record and analyze student speech and language patterns. This would help pathologists to better assess areas for treatment/correction among the students on their case load. This software would allow pathologists to store and catolog student speech samples for easy retrieval. A pathologist could play back samples to their students to help illustrate any speech or language irregularities to them. These samples could also be used to demonstrate the improvement of their students to parents and the students themselves over time.

NETS-T 2.c. Audacity definitely offers teachers the opportunity to both "customize and personalize" assignments. Teachers can use Audacity for something as simple as reading a test aloud; however, in using Audacity, teachers can further customize and personalize a test or assignment to fit an individual students' needs. For example, if a student has difficulty in understanding the focus of a question, a teacher can rephrase the question and/or add clarification to the recording. In the case of a student who is in the process of learning English, teachers can have an interpreter restate questions in a student's native language in order to make sure that the student knows that he/she is understanding the question correctly and is, therefore, answering the question correctly. Teachers often do not have an interpreter available during class, so making the recording outside of class may be more convenient.

I currently have 5th grade students write up a book review on paper, and then allow then to film or take pictures in which they can later download into this software to produce a digital book review. We use these book reviews for our weekly news casts and in addition, other students can access them to see if they would like to check a type of book out from the library.

In PE class, I could have students videotape their classmates during a specific unit and then use Moviemaker to create different videos based on what skills we were trying to improve. For instance, in a raquet sport unit, students could use Moviemaker to create a video demonstrating the proper serve, forehand, backhand, smash, etc. They could also include examples of "bad" or inefficient movements. The videos could then be shown during class to further promote student learning.

I would love to use audacity for some assessments with a praticular student in my class who has writing processing difficulties. He cannot process directly to written words. He needs an auditory component of every written activity. I want to have him record his own answers, and then listen to them and use that as his auditory cue component for written assesments.
